Business Planning – The First Step To Building An Online Business
Step One – Building The Business Foundation:
To be a successful Internet Marketer you need to treat this venture as a true business, which means that you need to do some planning and goal setting to create a secure foundation for your new Online Business. Plan on working smarter rather then harder, this is not a get rich quick program like I spoke of previously. The most important step in any of these modules is taking ACTION! It is very easy to become overwhelmed and frustrated, but remember the following saying” don’t worry about getting it right, just get it going” then you can always refocus on what needs attention.
1) Create 3 Life Plans
A) Business: things you want for the business – do you want to create a squeeze page, set up a blog and how many times a week/month will you post on it, do you want a opt-in list, how many people do you want on the mailing list and by when? etc. **it’s important to have one main goal at the end of this and one goal only, it is perfectly fine to have tasks and projects for the business as you go along but 1 final goal keeps you directed and dialed into having a successful final outcome.
B) Entrepreneur: What are some things you want to do as a Entrepreneur: Create your own product, have a online coaching program.
C) Personal: What is your plans for your personal life - take weekends to spend with the family, trips 2x a year, Wednesday is date night with significant other, get a dog.
Now once you have written your 3 Life Plans it just as important to write some Time Management Plans.
2) Create Time Management plans
A) 1 year Plan ( do the best you can, if you cannot do a 1 year plan, then create a 90 day Plan)
B) 90 day Plan: take the 1 year plan and make 4 -90 day plans.
C) Monthly plan: try to forecast your schedule the best you can.
E) Weekly plan: include allocated times for thing such as email, research
F) Daily To-Do list, but write it tomorrow
G) A Daily Did Sheet One of the most important yet- What you do with that is you log in information during a work day to see exactly what you are getting done and how long it’s taking you . This is a very effective time management tool and will help you to start to learning to manage your time with productivity. Do this for approximately two weeks, you’ll be amazing to see were your time is spent and it helps keep you on track!
*****Please keep in mind that the above Plans are to be realistic projections as to what goals you want to achieve and understand that we are trying to break these plans down into manageable pieces. *A helpful hint when writing your Time Management plans is it’s easier to work backwards from the pictured end result.
Make sure to check things off from your list when completed and give yourself kudos for jobs well done!
3) Start A Journal or a Blog
Doing this will be a way of mapping your successes and who know down the road you may even wan to put it into PDF format and create a EBook! For those
4) MindMaping
A mind map is a place to brainstorm and plan projects and tasks visually through charting. It gives you a overview of the end result and helps outline you plans. Try it out here for free http://www.mindmeister.com/
5) Take Action!
6) Leave a Comment

Hi Lori!
I love your blog, and your article was great! It if filled with all kind of great information.
I agree that it is so important to break down your goal into yearly, monthly, weekly, and daily periods. By doing that the goal becomes reachable, and not so overwhelming.
See you in the webinars!
Beth
Hi Lori,
This is my first time to your blog and I love it. Just a little advice. Try to make a post every day or so. It doesn’t have to be a literary master piece. Make it a daily journal. I know it’s hard to find time but the search engines love fresh content.
I saw your name in the JV giveaways and that is the reason for the visit. I am starting to see a lot of people giving away List Building With Alex. This is really diluting my results. I have come up with a solution for this and am giving away 6 PLR products to help everyone out.
I am also going to post some videos to show everyone how to set up one of these products to use in a giveaway. Come by and pick yours up when you get a chance.
